Our Haskap (Lonicera caerulea) seed comes from a mix of the most vigorous and productive haskap shrubs on our farm. Haskaps are a perennial shrub that typically grows 1 to 2 meters tall. These are plants that have proven themselves season after season. Perfect for northern growers, haskaps are incredibly hardy, thriving through harsh winters and producing some of the earliest fruit of the season, often before strawberries.

This seed mix includes offspring from a range of robust and productive haskap varieties so we cannot name what varieties you'll get. Each plant grown will be a unique combination, with variations in growth habit, flavour, and berry shape.

Also known as Honeyberry in some regions, haskaps are a cold-climate favourite for good reason.

Lonicera caerulea is native throughout the cool temperate areas of North America, Europe, and Asia. Prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil and a location in full sun or partial shade. This seed represents a mix of hardy cultivars, and native haskaps.

Growing Instructions:

Germination: Soak in water for 24 hours, then cold-stratify in a fridge for 3 months ensuring they stay moist.

After the cold stratification period, sow on soil surface, at temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) to germinate. Seed require heat and sunlight to germination, so do not bury seeds. Germination generally occurs within 2-4 weeks but can be irregular and take as much as 90 days.
