Romaine. This variety offers ruffled leaves that are crunchy and sweet, with green hearts that grow upright and reach a foot tall. These plants are resistant to tip burn and are mosaic virus tolerant. This romaine variety is a standout in salads, lettuce wraps, and sandwiches. Developed by Clemson University and the USDA, it is named after Parris Island, South Carolina.
Growing Instructions
Sow direct seed 1” apart and ¼” in depth. Germination period is 7-14 days. Sow continuously for a constant supply of lettuce. Best grown in cooler weather. Plant in full sun or partial shade. Lettuce should be kept moist, since lettuce leaves are mostly water and will desiccate and wilt in strong sunlight and dry soil.
