Stalks grow to 9-15 inches long
Approx. 100 seeds per pack
This is a Scottish variety introduced in the early 1800s. This variety produces enormous leeks that are 9-15" long by 2-3" in diameter. The plant offers tender white stalks with dark blue-green fan-shaped leaves. It has a mild flavor that makes an excellent addition as a side dish, in soups or alongside other vegetables. Very tolerant of cold weather.
Sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost at ¼” deep and space 1” in all directions. Transplant outdoors 6” apart in rows 12-24” apart as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Germination period is 5-7 days. Hill or mound soil around stems several times to blanch as leeks grow.
