This variety produces smooth green leaves that grow 3-4 feet wide. The raw leaves give a strong and earthy taste, but when cooked the leaves are tender, juicy, and sweet. They are a great addition to salads, smoothies, and greens, as they taste great and contain fiber, antioxidants, calcium and many vitamins and minerals.
Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Sow the seeds ¼” deep. Plant out just before the last frost 24” apart in full sun. Germination period is 3-10 days. Kale is most tender and delicious after a frost and harvest can continue even after snow.
