This variety dates back to the 1880s, when it was brought to America by Italian immigrants. Dark green plants grow 8” tall with a variable bluish green head between 3-8" across. This is followed by abundant side shoots that keep coming until frost. It is excellent in soups and sauces.
From Transplant (recommended for shorter seasons). Sow seeds indoors ¼" deep, 4-6 weeks before last frost. Harden off. Plant out just before the last frost, 18-24" apart in-row and between rows. Broccoli prefers cool temperatures and a regular supply of water. In many regions it can be grown as both a spring and fall crop.
